The surname dates back to the late 15th Century, (see below). Further recordings include Garschor (1513), Garschore (1527), and Margaret Gartshore, Auchingeyth (1591). Church recordings include one Marie Garshore who was christened on April 17th 1655, at High Church, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Sarah Gartshore married Laurence Dinwoodie on August 27th 1691 in glasgow and Alexander Gartshore married Anne Houston, in Glasgow on July 20th 1718. Maxwell Gartshore married Elizabeth Murrell at St. Martin in the Fields, Westminster on May 17th 1795.
