Tibb was a medieval nickname used for both men and women, and Tibbetts means 'son of Tibb', from the French 'petit', (tibb-(pet)it), meaning little. One Charity Tibbetts infant daughter of William and Mary Tibbetts at St. Giles, Cripplegate, London in 1715, also in London one Jarvis Sowley Tibbetts married Anne Browne at All Souls, St. Marylebone, in 1842.
